Lady Marmalade was lounging in front of the gas oven heater today and as I reached down to pet her, she swiveled and let part of her tail touch the glass front. After about five seconds she moved away and I smelled something burnt. I picked her up and saw her fur was a bit frizzled, with a rougher texture than is usual. :( I picked her up, took her into the bathroom, wet a washcloth, and laid it around her tail. She thought this was annoying and she's walking around, begging, grooming herself, seems fine, so I don't think she burned her tail. I felt her tail a few times and she didn't holler at me, so I think she is ok?
Has anyone experienced this? Do I need to get her to a vet?

I would like to welcome Autumn to the Forums Team as Leader of the Nicotine Forum. I think she'll do her very best here to keep us updated on important news and information as well as do her best to get all of us yet to be reformed smokers to quit! LOL
Thank you Autumn!

I am 51/2 years sober, and I have enjoyed my recovery journey, have a long time Sponser, have done the steps in depth, I attend frequent meetings, and all in all, considered that I had a quality , serene life .
How quickly things can change !
Last week I had 2 pieces of very bad news .
It took but one minute for my thinking to flip back to my old default setting
I sat on my couch, stunned, there was that old familiar "knot in the gut", "What to do now ?" all my old confusion returned in an instant .
Thank God for the "tools" I have learned in my programme!
I cried, something I could never do before recover
I rang my Sponser, and many AA friends
but the feeling lasted 24 hours , what to do ?
There are several questions that I have used all through my recovery at times of doubt
What can I do about it ?
Can I change it ?
If so, take some action
If not , do the next right thing and let it go
I searched in my tool box, and there was good old step 4, with explicit instructions , just waiting for me to pick it up
grabbed my BB and my 12 x 12, a large pirce of paper, and a pen
I did a detailed 4th step, columns and all, I learned a great deal about my part in the situation, and found that I actually was hanging onto lots of stuff in relation to this situation.
I cannot describe the relief I felt, and the satisfaction of knowing that i had done all I could do .
It has been my experience that , for me , I have to actually DO something when faced with any problem, and it always works . Sitting with it in my head is of no use at all.
What a marvellous "toolbox" we have been given, amd practise gives us the skill to use them effectively

I thought it would be fun to start an interactive thread describing all the miserable facts of smoking. They can be facts in general, or facts as they apply specifically to you.
Those who have quit are welcome to participate - it will be a good exercise for reinforcing your quit!
:)
Fact #1: One in two lifetime smokers will die from their habit. Half of these deaths will occur in middle age.
